In Las Vegas, at the NCTA (National Cable Television Show) - "Cable 79" we introduced our Porta-Mole Boring System to the Cable TV market. Little did we realize the future of it all! On the shuttle bus going to the show, a cable contractor was accosted by the designer of the Porta-Mole and invited to come by the booth. Mr. E.O. Roden from Booneville, Mississippi said within one minute of seeing the Porta-Mole, "I need several of those!" He ended up ordering 10 machines. When the Tri-Cities Broadcasting installation crews saw the first training bore they all laughed at the little 63 lb. machine and said "it's going to take us all day to make this 40 foot bore under this street." The Porta-Mole operator pulled out a $100 bill and said "this says it won't take over 5 minutes." The bore took 3 minutes and 11 seconds by the clock. The crews fell in love with the Porta-Mole and went on to install in that town and others. |

Earl Cusak, owner of High Desert Cablevision also saw the Porta-Mole booth at the show and bought machines. Earl later said "we put in the first all-buried cable TV system in North America with your machines. We bored thousands of times, sometimes through hard rock, and that LITTLE RASCAL worked every time!" Another company was already using Porta-Moles and came to the booth and ordered 6 new machines. Yes, Porta-Mole helped put Cable TV underground and is doing it again with Fiber Optic. Same song … second verse.
